Cabbage steak

Stunning Lithuanian taste with a sauce which will go along well with any fried vegetables. A true discovery for those who like trying something new and love barbecues.

Ingredients

  • 1 cabbage
  • 400ml natural apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Lemon
  • Salt
  • Olive oil

Servings:4Level:easy

1. Put the whole cabbage head on the barbecue and fry it turning every 10 minutes. To check if cabbage is done, put the knife into its core. It should be soft. Depending on the cabbage size, the grilling can take about one hour. For this recipe choose to use smaller organic cabbages.

2. Make the sauce. Bring the apple juice to the boil. Add the butter and beat with a hand whisk until foam forms. If using sweeter apples, add some lemon juice to taste.

3. Remove the outer leaves, then slice the cabbage into the portions and place on a plate. Season with a few drops of olive oil and a dash of salt. Pour some sauce on top.
