Some people create movies about freedom, others express freedom in song or sculpture. My tribute to the 16th of February, the Independence Day of Lithuania, is this inspiring photo session “Made in Lithuania”. You will find numerous Lithuanian highlights in it – starting with the food and plates but also encompassing the decorations right down to the smallest pine-cones. The table décor hints at the wintry landscape and the table is made from aged flotsam washed up on the Lithuanian seaside. The truth is that everything that is truly Lithuanian is very beautiful. #RealIsBeautiful, isn’t it? ☺
In the background of the photos you can see real Lithuanian nature. Who said that you cannot do anything during the Lithuanian winter? All you need is just a little courage and imagination to get out of the box.

That is what I have shown you together with Jonas Jonušas, the ideological leader and great chef of the restaurant „Untold Grill Stories”. On a crackling camp-fire roast potatoes and trout are prepared for dinner rounded off with baked apple for dessert – everything is so Lithuanian, so genuine, so familiar.

Ultimately, if you are too scared to go out and set up the fire on a cold winter day, you can try all of these recipes at home, in your warm and cosy kitchen. These dishes will taste delicious even if you make them in the oven ☺

I am wondering what would have happened if I’d had the idea for such a photoshoot some ten years ago. Somehow, I doubt that I would have succeeded as we simply didn’t have so many Lithuanian items and products. It is amazing that there are so many creative people who make truly unique and stylish local goods nowadays. I am very glad and proud that for this SPECIAL day I can create such an incredible photoshoot, an aura and feeling of what is “Made in Lithuania”.
